Stannnell Ltd is proud to announce its role as the official organizer of two major international violin-making events that will take place at the BolognaFiere FairgroundHall 33 – Entrance Aldo Moro, from 12 to 17 May 2026.

These two exceptional cultural and artistic events — the Giovanni Battista Guadagnini International Competitionand the Ansaldo Poggi International Competition (1st Edition) — will bring together some of the world’s most talented luthiers, musicians, experts and enthusiasts for an extraordinary week dedicated to craftsmanship, innovation and musical excellence.


A Landmark Event at BolognaFiere

Bologna, with its rich artistic heritage and deep-rooted musical tradition, has long been a central hub for violin making. Hosting both competitions in the same venue and during the same week creates a unique opportunity for international visibility, cultural exchange and celebration of the art of lutherie.

Stannnell, with its expertise in event management, creative direction and professional coordination, will oversee all organizational aspects of the two competitions, ensuring a world-class experience for participants, judges, sponsors and visitors.


Giovanni Battista Guadagnini International Competition

Renowned for its rigorous artistic standards and international prestige, the Guadagnini Competition brings together master luthiers who submit violins, violas, cellos and double basses crafted according to traditional excellence and contemporary innovation.

Participants will compete for major awards, international recognition and the opportunity to showcase their work to leading musicians and collectors.


Ansaldo Poggi International Competition – 1st Edition

For the first time in history, the Ansaldo Poggi Competition will be held in Bologna, honoring one of the most celebrated 20th-century luthiers.
This inaugural edition includes categories for:

  • Modern Violin – €5,000 + Diploma + Medal
  • Antiqued Violin – €5,000 + Diploma + Medal
  • Modern Viola – €6,000 + Diploma + Medal
  • Antiqued Viola – €6,000 + Diploma + Medal
  • Modern Cello – €10,000 + Diploma + Medal
  • Antiqued Cello – €10,000 + Diploma + Medal

Registrations will be open from 15 December 2025 to 15 April 2026, allowing international luthiers to compete in one of the most distinguished new platforms in contemporary violin making.
